My spouse and i actually like the fresh Spartacus Gods series, it is just a tad quite a bit over-the-top violence for me. Absolutely no way would I let a person's kids watch this either, however it is really amusing in general.

I love Lucio Fulci. He is the true Italian horror maestro. My favorite film is Gates of Hell aka City of the Living Dead. I love it when the chick pukes up her entrails. Gore horror never gets old.

My favorite offshoot genre of the Italian horror film (giallo aside) is the nunsploitation genre. Joe D'Amato, Bruno Mattei, even Lucio Fulci tried his hand at naughty nuns up to no good on the silver screen.

Great writeup on Italian horror..I am a big fan of Sergio Martino and it's a shame he doesn't get more credit alongside Argento.

Great overview. I wondered about the history of Italian horror re: the time period in which they started making them. Too bad they don't make 'em like they used to.
