Italian Horror Movies
May 2nd, 2009 by Randy Ray | | 3 Comments »Italian Horror Movies
The words “Italian horror” are enough to send shivers of excitement up the spines of hardcore horror fans around the globe. Sure, these movies may sometimes contain lackluster acting and bad dubbing, but Italian horror films are also known for brutal violence and plenty of gore (with neither women nor children being spared). Often containing surreal scenes and plotlines, Italian horror movies tend to be a breath of fresh air when compared to their more formulaic cousins from the United States.
While the scariest Italian horror tends to be found in the films of the ‘70s and…

May 1st, 2009 by Randy Ray | | 5 Comments »100 Horror Movies From the 70’s
If you are old enough, you might remember growing up and watching some of the old horror movies from the 1970’s. They were groundbreaking in terms of terror, gore, and (in some cases) outright corniness. These early films really pushed the envelope as far as setting up the foundation for the horror movies today. They created the clichés, the atmosphere, and the buckets of blood that were splashed around haphazardly across the screen. If you missed out on that classic decade, here is a list of 100 horror films from the 70’s.

April 30th, 2009 by Randy Ray | | 4 Comments »I was reading about a book titled 100 One Night Reads: A Book Lover’s Guide, and I thought it might be fun to have a list of horror novels you can read in one night. Here’s a list of 10 horror novels you can read in a single night. All of them are available at the store, and most of them are available in relatively inexpensive editions too:
Frankenstein, or, the Modern Prometheus – Believe it or not, Mary Shelley was only 18 when she started writing Frankenstein. It’s considered the first science fiction novel, as well as being the…

H2 Trailer – Rob Zombie’s Halloween Sequel Trailer
Rob Zombie’s H2 is coming out on August 28, 2009. We can only pray that it’s not as bad as Rob Zombie’s terrible remake of Halloween, but that’s probably just too much to hope for. I don’t think Malcolm McDowell is good at all as Loomis. I don’t like the…
Ted Dekker – Boneman’s Daughter
April 28th, 2009 by Randy Ray | | No Comments »Ted Dekker’s latest novel, Boneman’s Daughter, just came out this month. Boneman’s Daughter is about an Iraq war veteran who is searching for his daughter. She’s been abducted by a serial killer who breaks his victims’ bones without breaking their skin. We have copies of the book coming in this week. If you’re interested, then Ted Dekker is a great example of “Christian horror”, which is a popular subgenre of both types of books.
And who would be better qualified than Ted Dekker to write Christian horror novels? He was raised by missionaries, and he personally knew people who were…

Top 50 Horror Trailers – 50 Great Horror Movie Trailers
April 27th, 2009 by Randy Ray | | 8 Comments »Some of these horror trailers are meant for adults, so be warned ahead of time. I don’t think any of these horror movie trailers are gruesome or gory enough to be rated “R”, but just to be safe, let’s assume that they are.
You’ll probably notice that most of the horror trailers listed are from movies that came out a long time ago. There’s a pretty simple reason for that; most newer horror movies, (and newer horror movie trailers) just aren’t very good.
Where possible, I’ve linked the name of each movie to a fan site or blog article…

Hotel Transylvania Movie 2011
March 3rd, 2009 by Randy Ray | | No Comments »In a couple of years (in 2011), I’m going to wake up one day and find out that the Hotel Transylvania movie has been released, and I can go down to the movie theater to watch it.
One of the things that would be cool is if this humble website ranked well in the search engines for queries related to that movie. I know the movie is coming up, but I don’t know much about it other than the vaguest of plot summaries. And since it’s coming out in 2011, there’s not even the hint of a trailer to watch…
