Recommended Horror Books and Horror Movies

Every day or so I'll add recommendations for horror books and horror movies to read and to watch. These are dated. I only recommend horror books and horror movies that we actually have in stock, but keep in mind that just because we have it in stock when I write about it doesn't mean that these recommended horror books and movies will stay in stock forever.

Recommended Series - Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer

Okay, I haven't read these books yet, but they're selling faster than I ever could have imagined. The Twilight books are flying off the shelves. The movie comes out this month too, so I expect we'll have a pretty big run on the books about then. The Twilight books are high on my list of "wanna-reads".

Recommended Horror Book - Zombie Haiku -Book by Ryan Mecum

Two people share one journal where they recount the last days of their lives (and unlives) during the zombie apocalypse. The first person uses the journal to record the beauty of the world via the poetic form of the haiku, but his ideas of what constitutes beauty change dramatically once he's bitten by one of the living dead. The second person finds the journal and records the last days of his life as well. Together the two accounts make for a personal and riveting account of the same kind of zombie plague we all recognize from so many George Romero movies and George Romero movie remakes.

The idea of recording the downfall of civilization from the perspective of a zombie is unusual, but recording it from the perspective of a haiku-writing zombie is unique. The difference in format brings the action closer home than just another zombie movie or zombie novel. And since it's written from the zombie's perspective, it's more horrifying. This one's a must-read.

Zombie Haiku BookZombie Haiku is written by Ryan Mecum and published by F+W Publications. The book itself is beautifully illustrated and designed, and every fan of zombie literature should own a copy. The book is available for $9.99 here at Eerie Books. If you love zombies, you'll love Zombie Haiku. Also, just because it's on the cover, and it's not a spoiler, here's a sample of some of the haiku you can expect:

Biting into heads
is much harder than it looks.
The skull is feisty.

And...

You are so lucky
that I cannot remember
how to use doorknobs.
